Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 14 to 24 April 2025. Railway Bridge View (Roche Homecare Ltd) is a care at home service providing support to adults of all ages who may be living with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities and dementia. This is the first assessment of this service since it registered with CQC.

Recruitment processes were secure and reliable. Sufficient staff were available to visit individuals at home safely and according to their preferred schedules. Team members were well-prepared, having received thorough training and orientation. Detailed risk evaluations addressed both the physical and emotional well-being of the people supported. Trained personnel administered medications safely. A strong culture of learning was evident, reflected in how staff discussed their roles and the continuous support they received.

Staff ensured individuals fully understood their care and treatment, allowing them to give informed consent. When individuals lacked mental capacity, staff worked with those close to them to make decisions in their best interest. People were actively involved in evaluating their own needs, with staff considering their communication styles, personal preferences, and health conditions. Care delivery followed current best practices and evidence-based approaches. Nutritional needs were met, and staff collaborated with other professionals to ensure smooth transitions and optimal care outcomes.

Staff well-being was supported by the provider. Privacy and individuality were respected, and personal choices were honored. People were encouraged to stay connected with their communities and maintain meaningful relationships.

People were informed about how to give feedback or make complaints, and they trusted the management to respond effectively. Care was delivered fairly and equally, with staff trained to recognize and address disparities in health and social care. People were included in making decisions about their care and were aware of their right to refuse or stop receiving services.

Staff expressed confidence in the leadership, particularly the registered manager, and felt safe to voice any concerns. Policies protected individuals with legally protected characteristics. A commitment to continual improvement was evident, with staff given opportunities and resources to innovate. The registered manager fulfilled their responsibilities, including reporting all required incidents to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

People's experience of this service

People expressed positive views about the care and support they received. Some of the feedback included comments such as, “I am very well cared for and looked after,” and “The staff are lovely.” Individuals reported feeling safe and well supported, with one person stating, “I always feel safe when the staff are here.”

People highlighted the consistency of staff as an important factor, noting that they regularly saw familiar faces, which helped build trust and comfort. People were treated with compassion and dignity. Feedback from both service users and their families confirmed this respectful approach.

Relatives shared that they felt confident raising any concerns, and believed the management team would listen and take appropriate action to resolve issues. Everyone we spoke to confirmed that staff always sought consent before providing personal care and treated their homes and belongings with respect. Staff were also able to give examples of how they ensured consent was obtained in practice.

People told us they were actively involved in planning their care. One person said, “Yes, I have a care plan and it’s usually reviewed with my input. I told them how I like things done.”

All people we spoke with confirmed they were provided with information about services such as GPs, dentists, and advocacy support if needed.

Everyone we spoke with said they knew who the registered manager was and that they would recommend Roche Homecare Ltd to others.
